ROSSMOOR ROTARY FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT
The Rossmoor Rotary Foundation shall be the resource of the Rotary Club of Rossmoor to receive charitable gifts, from both members and non-members, and to make grants from those gifts to appropriate organizations or individuals throughout the world with priority to the Rossmoor community.

ORGANIZED
The Rossmoor Rotary Foundation, a publicly supported organization, founded in 1984 by the Rotary Club of Rossmoor, and operated exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Sections 501 (c) (3) and 509 (a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (or the corresponding revisions of any future United States Internal Revenue Law). It is located in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County, California.

PURPOSE
The Rossmoor Rotary Foundation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation organized to receive gifts and make grants for charitable purposes that benefit our community. Donations focus on youth, education, and seniors with an emphasis on the community of Rossmoor first, and then the greater Contra Costa County area.

GOVERNANCE
Trustees govern the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation. The Trustees are elected by the members in good standing of Rotary Club of Rossmoor. The current club President, President-Elect, and Immediate-Past President serve as designated trustees.

OBJECTIVES
1. To accept any gifts of money, other property, or the income there from on such terms and conditions, as it deems advisable for the general objectives of the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation; or, for such uses as may be prescribed by the donor that conform to the general objectives of the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation.
2. To receive from the Rotary Club of Rossmoor, funds designated by it’s Board of Directors, by resolution, for use by the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation.
3. To hold, manage, invest and reinvest, and administer all property of the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation as provided by the By-Laws or by the terms of the gift or bequest.

BENEFICIARIES
Rossmoor Rotary Foundation grants are for charitable, philanthropic, public good, community, youth and educational purposes with particular emphasis on the community of Rossmoor, Contra Costa County based institutions or organizations that promote the welfare of the Rossmoor, Walnut Creek Community, or programs sponsored or endorsed by Rotary International or the Rotary Foundation.

CONTRIBUTIONS WELCOMED
While contributions in any amount are welcomed, the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation particularly encourages larger gifts that are ordinarily made by way of estate planning strategies. These include, but are not limited to:

1. Residential and commercial real estate through bequest, trust, or life estate arrangement.
2. Appreciated securities with resultant tax advantages for the donor.
3. Life Insurance policies, naming the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation.
4. Beneficiary designation from the donor’s retirement account(s).
Any and all such gifts may be named to give honor or recognition to a special person, donor, organization, or business entity in perpetuity.

GIFT DESIGNATION POSSIBILITIES
The income from gifts will be used in keeping with desires as indicated at the time of the gift, subject to the purpose, governance, and objectives of the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation.

DONOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT
In the case of Memorial Donations, both donor and the family of the person memorialized will be acknowledged. In the case of all other donations, the donor will be acknowledged.

The Rossmoor Rotary Foundation is based right here in Rossmoor and guided by Trustees/members of the Rotary Club of Rossmoor for the benefit of Rossmoor, Walnut Creek, and Contra Costa County needs, in keeping with the Objectives of the Rossmoor Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation is directed and guided by the Secretariat of Rotary International at the organization’s headquarters in Evanston, IL. Their funds are expended primarily for worldwide oriented longer term projects.
