Thank you friends and neighbors for visiting our Rossmoor Rotary Website.
I just got back from Taipei, Taiwan where over 37,000 Rotarians from over 200 countries came together to share fellowship, create new friends, celebrate the work we do to make the world a better place and be inspired by leaders and speakers.
Rotary’s guiding principle is “Service Above Self”. This is manifested by our programs locally and internationally to do good, unite for common goals and create lasting impact in the world.
Some examples:
- Our commitment to ending Polio worldwide. Since 1988 when Rotary joined the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, polio has been reduced 99.9% worldwide. Rotary has contributed over 2.9 billion dollars and immunized over 3 billion children. Polio is currently present in only two countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan with less than 10 cases this year. We are close to finishing the job so that no child will get polio and have to crawl the rest of their lives.
- Disaster relief in our partnership with ShelterBox which provides immediate help after floods, fires, earthquakes, tornadoes or displacement due to military conflicts all over the world.
- Educational opportunities for all, especially women and girls. We provide scholarships for high school and junior college students through our partnering with the Rossmoor Scholarship Foundation.
- Create positive and lasting help for the environment.
- Locally we support many organizations that provide services associated with Cancer, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

We are able to do this with over 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide. But it all happens with every club’s members who are provided the opportunity to change other people’s lives and also change themselves. My life is richer and fuller for being a Rotarian for over 40 years.
Come and join us on Wednesdays at the Diablo Room at Hillside from 11:30-1:30. We have wonderful speakers each week and lunch is available if you wish. You might find that Rotary is what you are looking for to make a difference in the world.
